Junior Galactic Committee for Peace

The Galactic Committee for Peace is a committee dedicated to bringing peace across the galaxy in the aftermath of the war between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. Born from the victory of the Rebels, the GCP serves as a beacon of hope for the galaxy, aiming to make sure that the days of tyranny and oppression from the empire are gone for good. The GCP has the responsibilities of maintaining diplomacy, promoting justice, and ensuring that the rights of all beings in the galaxy are protected. The committee’s primary objective is to prevent the formation or comeback of any regimes that could threaten the newly established peace. To achieve this objective the GCP will work closely in mediating conflicts, peace treaties, and efforts for disarmament. The galaxy is still a volatile place. The GCP must deal with challenges like remnants of the Galactic Empire and ambitious syndicates trying to fill the power void left in the Empire’s wake, and do so with wisdom and diplomacy. Through cooperation and vigilance, the Committee aims to make sure that the galaxy remains free from the oppression of the Empire and that the horrors of the past are not repeated. T

Chairs

Head-Chair, Pedro Reis

Hello everyone, my name is Pedro Reis and I am a sophomore at TBSRJ Barra. I am thrilled to be the Head Chair of the Junior Special Committee in RioMUN IV! This will be my fifth participation in an MUN conference and one I am certainly looking forward to, since this is my first time being a chair. After my experiences with MUN, I have improved my ability of developing my arguments while adapting to the ever-changing debate, along with becoming much less shy to speak my mind (especially in special committees such as this one), and I hope to develop these skills with the delegates in a very comfortable and respectful committee. After all, the committee will revolve around something I really enjoy and feel comfortable talking about, which is Star Wars, so delegates that share these feelings towards the topic will certainly have a great time as well. Along with the franchise, some other things I enjoy are movies in general, the beach, basketball, but most importantly music, which I would say is my largest passion. I look forward to meeting you all in what i’m sure will be a very special edition of RioMUN, and don’t hesitate to contact me until then.

Vice-Chair, Jordan Kelperis

Hello everyone! My name is Jordan Kelperis and I am currently a freshman at the Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro(EARJ). I am vastly honored to be chairing the junior special committee in the fourth edition of RioMun along with Pedro Reis. Since the beginning of my MUN journey in the first edition of MUN, I knew it was something I would continue for my whole life. MUN was already incredible and I didn't know how it could get better, that changed when I did my first special committee. For me, in my first special committee, it just inspired me to continue MUN because I saw how pleasurable MUN could be. MUN is an experience in which you get nowhere else, the communication skills you learn, the friends you never forget, and the thrilling debates that even not being sports, give you adrenaline. Mun is nothing without the delegates. So please, even if you are in tough times and are confused, don`t stop making P.O.I.S, don't stop communicating, don't stop debating, make this experience the best it can be! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at jordankelperis2009@gmail.com!
